California Lifting Restrictions June 15th; San Diego Moves to Orange Tier

Governor Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday that 15 months after the first stay at home orders, the entire state will eliminate the color-coded tiers on June 15th.

Newsom says the county by county metrics will be eliminated on that date. There will no longer be any restrictions on capacity, gatherings, sports, travel or openings. California will still have a mask mandate after June 15th, and large indoor events over 5,000 people like conventions will have to wait until October 1st.

Meantime, San Diego County is moving into the state's less restrictive Orange tier, effective at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday allowing more businesses able to be have more customers with expanded capacity limits. The County has been in the Red Tier for several weeks and before that in the most restrictive tier for several months. Starting Wednesday night, the county will lift a 10 p.m. curfew for restaurants, bars, breweries, distilleries and wineries that has been in place since July of 2020.
