SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A number of former students of a theater program in East County are suing the organization... over alleged sexual abuse.
According to reporting partner 10 News, the lawsuit is on behalf of six male students who claim three instructors at Christian Youth Theater in El Cajon abused them. One of the complaints accuses a 45-year-old teacher of giving a 15-year-old boy alcohol and claims she had up to 90 sexual encounters with him. Another complaint says a male student was abused during slumber parties.
The plaintiffs say the the theater company was negligent and dismissed the reports of abuse.
Last year the San Diego County District Attorney's office charged two former Christian Youth Theater employees with sexually abusing students. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
