One Man Dead, One Man in Custody following Stabbing in Clairemont

SAN DIEGO (KOGO) - One man is dead and at least one suspect person is in custody after a deadly stabbing in the Clairemont.

Officers with the San Diego Police Department responded around 2:30 a.m. Monday to reports of an injured person on Bowden Avenue and Derrick Drive. Officers then came into contact with a man with a knife, later identified as 28-year-old Raul Marquez, whom they took into custody.

"He became violent in terms of struggling with the officers," a San Diego Police Lieutenant said. "No force was necessarily used to take him into custody but he was put into a what is known as a spit sock device to prevent him spitting on the officers. He had a lot of blood on him. He was placed in a wrap device for his own safety."

The victim was found inside home with multiple stab wounds and while his identity has not been released, the man was said to be his 60's. Both the victim and the suspect are extended family members who were apparently staying at same house and it appears they got into an argument before the incident. Police are still on scene investigating.
