SAN DIEGO - The driver in a DUI crash at Torrey Pines State Beach, which claimed the life of two young men, has his day in court.

Christopher Ray Schmittel, 19, of Moreno Valley, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and other charges in connection with the April crash.

"No matter how hard it is, don't drink and drive," says Angeliena Rosales, is the sister of Johnny Punzalen, one of the young men killed in the crash. "You are responsible for everybody in your car, regardless."

Joshua Adonai Manzares, 19, was also killed in the crash. Both he and Punzalen were thrown out of the car as it tumbled over rocks and down to the beach. Schmittel was ordered into custody without bail. He faces up to 30 years to life in prison if convicted.
