ENCINITAS - Parents and community members are calling for a controversial board member of the San Dieguito Union High School District to be reinstated, and calling for another to be removed.
"Michael Allman has created a divisive school board," says parent Ryan Wagstaff. "He has created an environment where bullying is commonplace."
Some claim the effort to suspend Superintendent Cheryl James Ward was not for insensitive remarks she made a meeting earlier this year but out of retaliation because of a complaint she filed against Allman. But other parents say Ward's comments on Asian student success because of their purported wealth crossed a line.
Ward's reinstatement and Allman's potential dismissal were not on last night's agenda, so no vote was taken on the matters.
