LA MESA - More than two dozen mistreatment claims have been filed against the City of La Mesa in the last year.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the 27 claims against the city include misconduct and property damage by city employees.
Only five of the investigations have been closed and the city only offered a settlement in one case: that was for just under $4,000 to a man who said La Mesa Police rear-ended him. In all, six complaints were filed against the police department, including one from a man who claims a police dog bit him, despite the department not having patrol dogs.
Eight claims filed against the city last year were all from the same woman, filed the same day, but officials say those complaints stem from a dispute with a neighbor.
