SAN DIEGO - The high gas prices are definitely causing some San Diego County residents to make some changes, including ditching the gas-powered car for an all-electric one.
Kevin Hopkins tells NBC7 he only spends about $15 to $18 to charge his Tesla.
“Prior to buying this car, I was spending $2,000 a month in gas and that would probably be $3,500 now, I think,” Hopkins said.
Hopkins says he still owns a truck and an SUV which both costs hundreds of dollars to fill up, but he won't be keeping them much longer, as he's ordered the Tesla truck.
Those who aren't going the electric car route say they are making changes to their spending habits, including eating out less.
