6/16/22 UPDATE: Mexican authorities say seven-month-old Valentina Sabean was found safe in the city of Rosarito, about 12 miles south of Tijuana. The amber alert has been cancelled, but no other information was released
Original story:
TIJUANA, MEXICO - An amber alert is issued South of the border for a baby girl whose mother was found dead in Tijuana.
Seven-month-old Valentina Sabean has been missing since April 17th and the body of her mother, Raquel Sabean, was found in a car in Tijuana on May 31st. Deanna Gilbert, who served in the Navy with Sabean, tells NBC 7 she's shocked that we're not hearing much about the case on this side of the border.
"There's an amber alert in Baja California about it but there's nothing, nothing in this nation about this and she's a United States veteran" said Gilbert.
The attorney general of Baja California says his office is working with the U.S. authorities to locate the baby's father, Paul W. Phillips, a person if interest in the case. Phillips has also been missing since the family crossed the border into Tijuana back in April.
