Trouble at the Airport as Summer Travel Season Kicks Off

SAN DIEGO - Flight cancellations are putting a damper on the summer travel season as passengers get stranded at airports across the nation.

"The main reason why we're hearing about these delays is both weather as well as staffing shortages within airlines," AAA's Doug Shupe explained to NBC 7.

Bennett Chadwick and his family had trouble with connecting flights that got cancelled and missing baggage, and says he's rethinking of just driving for his next trip.

"Even with the gas prices high, the stress and the time loss weighs on you a little bit," Chadwick said.

According to Flight Aware more than 20 flights have been cancelled at San Diego International Airport today. Travelers are advised to double check their flight status.
