CHULA VISTA - A South Bay teen receives a big thank you for returning a woman's lost purse.
17-year-old Adrian Rodriquez, a recent Otay Ranch High School graduate, went grocery shopping recently and as he grabbed a cart, he noticed a purse had been left in it. So he checked the driver's license and then drove to the address to return the purse, telling NBC 7 it was just the right thing to do.
"My mom, she always told me since I was little, to do the right things when nobody's around," said Rodriquez.
The purse belonged to Eliana Martin, but she hadn't lived at that address in a while. But he left the purse with a relative living at the house. A friend of Martin's then tracked down the teen on Social Media and organized an online fundraiser to give him a reward, which ended up being more than $1,000.
Rodriquez is thankful and says he doesn't know what he'll use the money for, but said it will definitely help with gas for his car.
