SAN DIEGO - San Diego County will once again have a commission dedicated to the arts.
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved a new Arts and Culture Commission last week. The commission will have a full-time staff member and a 13-member board. The five supervisors will each appoint two members an the remaining three seats will be filled by youth members.
The region's last arts commission was dissolved 30 years ago, which left the county ineligible for a number of public arts grants. According to a recent study, about 35,000 people work for arts and cultural non-profits in the area, organizations which spend about $1 Billion annually.
