Another Woman Dies in Sheriff's Custody

SAN DIEGO - Another Woman has died while in Sheriff's Department custody.

Vianna Granillo, 25, was pronounced dead at a hospital Wednesday. Deputies found her unresponsive in her cell at the Las Colinas Detention Center early Tuesday morning and attempted several life saving measures, including multiple doses of naloxone, an overdose reversing drug, before she was taken to the hospital.

Granillo had been in Sheriff's custody since July 8th when she was arrested for violation of a court order and was booked into the Vista Detention Center before being transferred to Las Colinas. The cause and manner of her death is under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

This is the second death of a female inmate in recent weeks and this is at least the 12th person to die in Sheriff's Department custody this year.
