SAN DIEGO - A Great White Shark is sighted off the coast of La Jolla and now we're hearing from the man who took the video of the up-close encounter.
Nico Gibbons took video of a 14-foot, adult Great White shark and tells reporting partner 10 News about the experience.
“It was encircling our boat, it was encircling the seal," said Gibbons. "It was pretty gnarly."
The shark did eat that seal but did not attack the boat.
Biologists say shark sightings are up in Southern California, especially juvenile Great White sharks, because of the warm waters. The seal and sea lion population has increased over the past few years has also contributed to the increase in sharks in the area.
Reporting partner 10 News has the video of that shark sighting.
