SAN DIEGO - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is now ramping up deportations again as a Biden Administration policy awaits a Supreme Court decision.
The San Diego Union Tribune reports that ICE is no longer prioritizing the deportation of immigrants with a criminal history and is now arresting Immigrants at their scheduled check-ins with immigration authorities and deporting them. This includes immigrants who may have a pending appeal or motion to reopen their cases.
This comes after a federal judge in Texas ordered a nationwide halt to the guidance... which was issued by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in September of 2021. The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to allow the Biden Administration to reinstate the policy but will hear arguments on the case later this year.
