Judge Rules in Lawsuit over Chargers Relocation to Los Angeles

SAN DIEGO - A judge dismisses a lawsuit over the Chargers move to Los Angeles.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of San Diego resident Ruth Henricks, who claimed Chargers owner Dean Spanos knowingly made false statements about keeping the team in San Diego. The lawsuit also cited former NFL official Jim Steeg, who told the San Diego Union-Tribune in 2021 that Spanos had planned to move the team to Los Angeles all along.

The judge said Steeg's remarks to the paper were his opinion and could be considered hearsay and that the alleged claims of fraud were beyond the statute of limitations.
