EL CAJON - A former East County high school teacher is under arrest for sexual misconduct.
El Cajon Police say former Granite Hills High School teacher Gerald Lopez was arrested Wednesday on misdemeanor and felony charges, including harmful material sent with interest to seduce a minor. The arrest follows investigations into the teacher's alleged misconduct by both the police department and the Grossmont Union High School District.
The district first learned of the allegations in June and reported the matter to police and Child Welfare Services. The teacher was placed on leave and subsequently fired.
The school district has not said when and where the alleged misconduct took place and how many students may have been involved.
