SAN DIEGO - Another person has died in San Diego County Sheriff's Department custody.
A 56-year-old man died after he was found unresponsive by a cellmate at the George Bailey Detention Facility in Otay Mesa Tuesday. The cellmate notified jail staff through the intercom system. Staff performed medical aid until paramedics arrived to transport the inmate to the hospital, where he later died. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
This is at least the 16th person to die in San Diego County Sheriff's custody this year.
