SAN DIEGO - Charges are filed against two men accused of bringing suspected illegal immigrants across the border and leading authorities on a high-speed chase.
Sergio Cervantes-Lopez , 30, a San Diego resident, and Remigio Sosa-Laez, 19, a Mexican national, are facing human smuggling charges in connection with Tuesday's pursuit. Two of the suspected illegal immigrants told authorities Sosa-Laez led the group across the border where Cevantes-Lopez then picked them up in an SUV.
Border Patrol Agents then tried to stop the vehicle but the driver sped off, leading authorities on a chase through several South San Diego neighborhoods, ramming a Border Patrol vehicle and two other cars, before ending in a rollover crash. Agents say eight to ten migrants were in that vehicle.
