SAN MARCOS - We're learning more information about the teenage swim teacher accused of sexually abusing a child in the North County.
Nicholas Piazza, 19, is in Sheriff's custody after the parent of a seven-year-old boy reported her son had been sexually abused by the teen on at least two occasions. But this may not be the first time the teenager has done something like this. Amy Moreno is the former general manager of Callan Swim School in San Marcos where Piazza once worked and she tells reporting partner 10 News she's surprised to hear about the latest incident, after he was accused of abusing a child last year.
"I was even more shocked that he was still teaching lessons and able to do it again," said Moreno.
Piazza was out on bail at the time of the most recent incident and had been ordered not to work with children. Last year he allegedly sexually abused a six-year-old child while he was a swim teacher at Callan Swim School. He was charged with committing a lewd act upon a child, a felony. His attorney says the video of the swim lesson in which the alleged abuse occurred shows nothing out of the ordinary and the child seemed happy.
The Sheriff's department is asking for any possible victims to come forward. Piazza remains in custody without bail and is set to go on trial for the first case in December.
