SAN DIEGO - San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan is filing felony charges against a middle schooler over a post he made on Snapchat.
The charges stem from an incident in November of last year where a 7th grader at Carmel Valley Middle School was told to go to the Principal's office. He waited for quite some time and was never told what he was in trouble for. The teenager then ran out of the office, posting on Snapchat 'Just dipped outta school ran out that bitch in the office dead tom' followed by a vampire emoji.
Authorities then showed up at the student's home and took him into custody. The mother told CBS 8 police were rude and and ransacked the boy's room and did not tell her why they were ther, taking her son out of their home in handcuffs with no socks or shoes on.
School administrators considered the Snapchat post a threat against the principal and sought to expel him. The mother filed a lawsuit against the San Dieguito Union High School District over its handling of the situation, and the school board eventually sided with the student.
The mother says the DA filing charges of felony making a criminal threat is retaliation for her civil suit. The DA's office says it takes school safety seriously but won't comment on cases involving minors.
