SAN DIEGO - A hearing begins Wednesday for Larry Millete, who's charged with the murder of his missing wife, Maya Millete.
Some of the evidence expected to be presented by the prosecution includes one incident where Larry choked Maya until she was unconscious; that he searched the internet for hemlock and rohypnol as a part of a plan to incapacitate her; and that he paid spellcasters to injure her.
Witness testimony will be heard. The hearing could take several days, if not weeks. Then a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to put Larry on trial for murder
This past weekend marked two years since Maya's disappearance. The body of the mother of three has never been found. Nearly 10 months after her disappearance in January of 2021, her husband Larry was arrested and charged with her murder. Wednesday's hearing comes after a ruling in October of 2022 which determined the 41-year-old is mentally competent to stand trial.
