VISTA - A former swim instructor in the North County accused of molesting students will stand trial.
During a hearing Tuesday, two boys aged seven and five took the stand and said 19-year-old Nick Piazza touched them inappropriately one of the boys saying Piazza touched his private parts. A therapy dog was brought into the court to help make the alleged victims more comfortable during their testimony, according to reporting partner 10 News.
The incidents happened while Piazza was giving private swim lessons at homes in the North County in September of last year and happened after he had previously been arrested and charged with molesting a six-year-old boy at Callan Swim School in San Marcos in the summer of 2021. He posted bail and was ordered not to have any contact with children, which he violated when he continued to teach swim lessons privately.
All three cases could be combined into one trial. Piazza will be back in court February 15th. He faces up to 26 years in prison if convicted.
