Ukrainian Refugees in San Diego reflect on One Year since Russian Invasion

SAN DIEGO - Nearly a year after war broke out in Ukraine, refugees are still adjusting to their new life in San Diego

“Now we say we have one life before and one life after this day,” Oxana Mushchenko, a Ukrainian refugee, told NBC 7.

Mushchenko and her family were among the many who settled in San Diego. Her two sons are now in school and she's working two part time jobs.

“My usual morning started with reading the news and yes I had stress after the news but when I visit the House of Ukraine or I take part in events, it helps me with my mental health,” said Mushchenko.

Many Ukrainian refugees are struggling to find peace as they work to rebuild their lives in California while many of their friends and family remain in a war zone.
