CHULA VISTA - A teacher in San Diego County is on leave after his past misconduct issues resurfaced.
Joshua Allen Barney was teaching in the Sweetwater Union High School District despite being previously fired from the Grossmont Union High School District in 2017 for inappropriately touching and making inappropriate comments to a female student.
The Voice of San Diego reports the Sweetwater District was unaware of Barney's past behavior but did check to see if he had a valid teaching credential. Despite a recommendation from a state panel to revoke his credential, the state Attorney General's office decided not to prosecute Barney.
