Jury Sides with Former San Diego News Anchor

SAN DIEGO - A jury has sided with former news anchor Sandra Maas in her lawsuit against KUSI-TV.

The jury found that the station, owned by McKinnon Broadcasting, unfairly paid Maas less than her male co-anchor Allen Denton and awarded her $200,000 for the equal pay claim, nearly $1.3 Million for past and future lost wages and some $80,000 for emotional distress. The jury also found that KUSI retaliated against Maas by not renewing her contract when she brought up the pay gap, but determined the station did not discriminate against Maas based on her age or gender.

An attorney for KUSI says they will appeal.
