Shooting During Juneteenth Event at Liberty Station Leaves 1 Dead,1 Wounded

San Diego Police asked for help from the public Sunday as they continued to investigate a deadly shooting during a Juneteenth concert in a Liberty Station park Saturday.

One person, a 20-year-old man, was killed A second person, also a 20-year-iold man, was wounded with what police said were non-life threatening wounds. The shooting happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. and 911 calls came in from NTC Park at 2455 Crushing Road.

Police say it was not an active shooter situation but an isolated incident. A police spokesman said a fight broke out about 15 minutes before the event was scheduled to end. During that fight, a man pulled out a handgun and shot the two victims before fleeing the scene.

The man who died has been identified but police were withholding his name until his family could be notified.
