Summer has arrived in San Diego, and that means the usual calls for us to...bake. And by that, I mean you.
It happens every year. When we get a heat wave, the power grid can't handle the load, so we are asked to not use our air conditioners.
On the only days when you actually need to use your air conditioner.
I am sure there is a delightfully logical reason that we still don't have a power grid that can handle the load from millions of us trying not to die of heatstroke. Or cook our parrots in their cages.
I even have my suspicions as to what those reasons might be...but that's beside the point.
Ultimately, it is incredibly frustrating to live in a country with such amazing, innovating people, and NOT have an updated power-grid.
When they ask, do YOU turn off the A/C and sweat to death?
Or do you nod sagely, back slowly into your house, ignore the call to conserve, crank the A/C, and settle in for a nice afternoon of binge-watching Lucifer on Hulu in cool comfort?
