Most people go to the movies to escape. For about two glorious hours, you drop yourself into a fantasy world. I have a tendency toward action and adventure...basically, brain candy. Though, I did go see Dunkirk last weekend, and thought it was really good. it was still a chance to immerse myself into a world I know nothing about. This weekend, I am going full-Charlize. I can't wait!
Part of the fun of going to the movies, are the trailers. You get to make a little checklist of things you want to see...and write a few things off as complete losers.
And then there is an Inconvenienter Truthier. Or whatever.
I get it. Climate Change. No matter where you fall on the topic...it arouses passions. Fine.
But when I am digging into a big, buttery tub of popcorn, and settling in for a good time, or a good cry, the last thing I want to have rammed down my throat is another bloody political polemic.
I want two hours, free of political drama. Two blessed hours to lose myself in a story...and NOT think about all the political drama and hysteria. Two. Hours. That is all I am asking for...and I am paying a premium to get it. So leave me alone, dang it.
That is all.
