In the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series, Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove was checked by the umps, for a possible illegal substance on his ears. Mets manager Buck Showalter requested the check.
Musgrove was on a roll...Through five innings of scoreless ball, he had allowed only one hit and struck out four with no walks.
After the check, the umpires cleared Musgrove, who not only stayed in the game, he stayed focused. It looks like he even had an exchange with the Mets dugout as he walked off the field.
The Padres won, shutting-out the Mets 6-0.
Next up? The Dodgers, in LA.
