All of the rain you have had to suffer through, has brought us something we desperately needed. Water. And a lot of it. You know what it didn't bring? Good sense. That is still in short supply in Sacramento.
During our long dry spell, the brain trust we sent up to Sacto has not built even one new reservoir. Not one. Imagine if we had prepared for this rain? Imagine if we could have partially filled even one more reservoir with precious water? This was not California's first taste of dusty, dry weather. We have had drought conditions before, and we will get them again. Heck, one wet year means nothing. So why aren't we ready?
And that brings me to this...are our water bills going to drop? Now that supply is up...and demand is likely pretty much the same, should we expect a Wal Mart-style rollback?
Yeah, didn't think so. But, hey, a girl can dream.
