San Diego Freeway Opens After 7 Hour Shutdown

A ruptured natural gas line prompted an hours long closure on a 5 mile stretch of the 163. But the freeway is back open today.

Workers were able to cap the gas line in Mission Valley Wednesday evening, hours after thousands of homes and businesses within a half-mile radius of the broken pipe were evacuated.

A five-mile stretch of state Route 163 between Interstate 8 and Interstate 805, was shutdown for 7 hours creating a traffic nightmare.
