I HATE asking for money. And I don't know why, since I am not asking for myself. I am asking on behalf of a wonderful organization, AFSP.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is a wonderful organization, filled with people whose lives have been affected by suicide. Whether they have suffered from depression, considered suicide themselves or been affected by the suicide of a friend or loved one, everyone I have met is generous, kind and willing to give a substantial amount of time to alleviate suffering.
Suffering by those who struggle to survive, and the people who love them.
We are a mostly volunteer organization trying to prevent suicide by making sure people have access to mental health care, and crisis care.
We want a simplified suicide hotline, (three numbers) and our efforts there are bearing fruit, (it's on the President's desk!)
AFSP's Out of the darkness walk is October 27th at Liberty Station.
We are looking for sponsors, walkers, volunteers, and people who want to come together in one of the most positive, loving environments I have ever been in.
