Why Summer in San Diego is Brighter This Year

It sure has been a good summer in San Diego so far.

We’ve pretty much avoided the extreme heat waves they’ve had in places like Texas and even Oregon. We’ve even had some rare light rain this summer, okay drizzle, that has helped us from being in a higher wildfire risk. But the best of San Diego’s summer has been downtown.

The long-awaited return of Comic-Con last month and the hundreds of thousands of visitors it drew to San Diego for a week, that helped refuel the local economy after two and a half years of the pandemic’s impact on so many restaurants and shops downtown and across the city.

And now this month, San Diego’s summer has just exploded with excitement as the Padres made blockbuster trades that have helped to make Petco Park an even more popular place. That means more sell outs, bigger crowds and more people spending time and money in the Gaslamp and downtown.

Businesses and tourism officials have got to be happy about how things are going this summer. And there is still a lot of summer still to go. There’s the popular Miramar Air Show returning for the first time in three years at the end of summer.

And if everything goes right, this Fall could be pretty good too…if the Padres do what fans and a lot of baseball experts think they can do in October...and win a World Series, a championship, for San Diego.
