Ways to Keep Your Brain Healthy

There are a lot of studies that come out about ways to live longer…from coffee to cranberries and from walking more to sitting less.

Now there’s a study out by some researchers who recommend what to do to reduce the risks of developing dementia as people get older.

And it’s not about eating something or not eating something.

This study says it’s about things you can do.

This new research from the Rush University Medical Center says that going out to restaurants, playing bingo, visiting friends, attending religious services or volunteering can give you extra years of healthy brain function.

The study found that older adults who stayed socially active typically developed dementia five years later than those who were less social and could extend life.

Staying socially engaged with others took a hit when the COVID pandemic first hit five years ago and a lot of people still avoid larger crowds of people.

But the authors of this study say their research suggests that simply getting out and doing things with others could be more important than the size of your social circle.

In other words, this study confirms what is in everyone’s DNA at birth; that we were created for relationships and not to be alone.
