What to Remember About the Great Political Divide

Have we ever been more polarized when it comes to politics in the U.S.?

That question keeps coming up as each chapter unfolds and each unprecedented event becomes unprecedented.

A look at the headlines every day these days on the cable news channels show is just how far apart people in this country.

It’s been suggested that we are like living in two America’s right now and in two different realities.

And as all of us see and hear the news each day, few would disagree that this political divide has just gotten worse as each of the last several years go by.

The sad situation has led to some friends no longer friends. And even some family members no longer spending time with some other family members.

This has all led to some Americans just going off the grid so to speak and not talking about or trying not to even think about the divided and too often nasty nature of politics in our country.

But our founders warned us of the critical importance of being an informed people to preserve what President Lincoln said about our government being one that is “of the people, by the people and for the people.”
