With all the political divisiveness these days, there is some encouraging news in a recent poll.
A survey of some 2,000 adults found that more than 80 percent said they actively try to “pay it forward” with acts of kindness whenever they can.
Those acts of kindness were described as treating their loved ones to something special, giving generous tips and helping out a neighbor, such as carrying their groceries or helping them with work around their house.
The poll found that the average American does at least five generous acts of kindness every week.
And those in the survey said acts of paying it forward makes them feel better about themselves and their overall life. And they say it boosts their confidence.
The pollsters said the results show that most Americans tend to believe in good karma, and that doing something kind for someone else brings good things back to you.
Apparently those Biblical truths about reaping what you sow and that giving is better than receiving are things that a huge majority of Americans believe in.
And these days with all the conflict and division, that’s some good news we can use.
