Dogs and their owners have a new social destination in San Diego.

The Dog Society is a 20,000 square-foot business that is a playground and beer garden for the enjoyment of both dogs and humans, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The indoor space features putt-putt greens, shuffleboard, and other lawn games as well as dog beds and metal clips to attach leashed dogs.

The Dog Society's owner Sara Broetji told the Union-Tribune she wanted to create a place near La Mesa where dog lovers can bring their pets and hang out.

“The nearest dog park is 10 minutes in either direction on the 8, and they’re not much to get excited about,” said Broetje.

The new spot is located at 6331 University Avenue, which used to be a furniture store in Rolando Park.

The space will also feature a craft beer tap with 12 brews, many of them local, and a coffee shop with espresso, cold brew, and kombucha on tap.

While the menu is still being developed, bar food will be available to order.

The upper level has outdoor space with patios to enjoy food and drinks as well as a huge dog playground with tires, ramps, and other equipment.

The Dog Society is currently open but for dog-only services. The social spot is expected to open up later this month.
