San Diego will soon be home to Sesame Place, a new theme park based on the much-loved children's program "Sesame Street". The park is owned and operated by SeaWorld Entertainment who will be opening the 17-acre park in spring of 2021 at was is now Aquatica San Diego in Chula Vista.
Aquatica will open for its final season on Memorial Day Weekend 2020 and at the conclusion of the season, the park begin its transformation. SeaWorld Entertainment officials have not indicated whether the water park attractions will be incorporated into Sesame Place.
Sesame Place San Diego will feature family-friendly thrill rides, parades, live shows and character interaction activities. There is also a Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and the SeaWorld Orlando park contains a Sesame Street Land.
