Pop Idol Says He Has Dementia
David Cassidy, the 66-year-old singer and actor, says he is battling dementia.
The former teenage heartthrob told People magazine that dementia runs in his family, affecting both his grandfather and his mother.
"I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming," he said to People, regarding the disease.
Yesterday I posted a video of Cassidy literally stumbling through a performance last weekend near L.A. This could explain his troubling appearance. He has battled alcoholism over the years, and was expected to tour through the summer, but now he says he'll "step back from touring".
My great-grandmother suffered from dementia as well. But she passed away when I was about 8 years old and I only have a few memories of her.
Has it affected anyone in your life?
