Video And Images Of The Aftermath Of A San Diego Mass Shooting

In this video, you can see police getting into a shootout with the killer, identified by authorities as 49 year old, Peter Selis. The question this morning is -- why? Why would a man go on a rampage at a birthday party and shoot innocent people? We may never know unless he left some sort of note or manifesto.

By all indications, Selis was approached by partygoers at the pool at the La Jolla Crossroads apartment complex on Judicial Road in the UTC area. The reportedly offered him food and that's when he pulled out a gun and started shooting the people, who had just invited him to join their celebration.

Selis was white. He shot 4 black women, 2 black men and a hispanic man. One of the women died. Witnesses say Selis reloaded his weapon while holding a beer and told people to "leave or die".

This is video taken from one of the residents while the shooting was happening.

Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman says officers shot and killed Selis when he pointed a gun at them. This was the scene about 2 hours after the shooting -- blood everywhere, overturned tables and chairs in the pool -- the aftermath of a party no one will ever want to remember, but will most likely never forget.
