Signs Go Up in El Cajon to Discourage Panhandling

The City of El Cajon, facing the same issue with homelessness as other parts of the county, has started installing signs to discourage people to give money to panhandlers.

The program is called “Real Change, Not Spare Change.” El Cajon’s Mayor Bill Wells talked to Carl DeMaio about the goal of the program. He says the focus is to encourage people to donate to organizations that help the homeless, not give to individuals.
