President Trump Friday afternoon called out CNN over its decision not to use an interview with KUSI on the situation at the border after it offered the network a report that presented evidence that a wall could be effective.
Mike McKinnon, owner of the television station says they received a call from a CNN producer asking for a local view on the situation at the border. The station offered Dan Plante who has covered a number of border related stories.
After telling the producer a number of rank and file agents have told them a barrier between the two countries has been effective in reducing illegal entries, drugs and weapons, CNN declined an interview according to McKinnon.
KUSI went on the air with a report about the CNN phone call and the story picked up steam.
Steve Cohen, News Director for KUSI talked to Carl DeMaio about the story during The DeMaio Report. He told DeMaio he's taken a lot of heat today over the story.
CNN denied that the station's findings had anything to do with opting not to take the report and called the controversy a non-story. A network spokesman says they called a number of local stations and ended up not going with any of them.
