Stacey Dash Running for Congress

Republican Stacey Dash is making a run for Congress in California.

The former Fox News commentator filed paperwork to run for California's 44th district.

Dash is running to replace Democrat Nanette Barragan.

Even though Dash hasn't released a public statement on her bid, she did tease a potential run earlier this month via Twitter.

The district has long been represented by a Democrat.

Florida Senate Committee Approves Proposal to Arm Teachers, Rejects Assault Gun Ban

Florida lawmakers moved forward on gun legislation but rejected a ban on assault weapons Monday night.

Hundreds of activists rallied outside the state Capitol during a Senate committee meeting.

About half a dozen Democratic amendments, including a ban on assault-style weapons, were voted down.

Lawmakers approved legislation to raise the legal gun-purchasing age to 21.

The bill would also implement a 3-day waiting period for all firearm purchases, make "bump stocks" illegal, and allow teachers to carry firearms.

Another amendment creates a fund to help victims of mass shootings.

The bill passed the committee with a 9-4 vote.

Governor to Trump: Tweet Less, Listen More

Speaking to governors at the White House yesterday, President Trump got an earful from Washington state Governor Jay Inslee.

The president is defending his proposal to let some qualified teachers carry guns to school.

Democrat Inslee said teachers do not want to be "packing heat."

He also suggested that the nation needs "a little less tweeting here and a little more listening."

Trump did not respond to that remark.
