Newsom’s “Republican Recall” Narrative Eliminated by New Democrat Candidate

Gavin Newsom’s strategy to fight off being removed from office has been to label the efforts as a “Republican Recall,” but that will have to change now that a Democrat has entered the race and is calling out the Governor’s failures.

California Democrats have had no backup option if Governor Gavin Newsom is voted out of office in his upcoming recall election and Democrat leaders have been working hard to keep it that way. Democratic officials want Newsom to be the only prominent Democrat on the ballot so they can continue to push the narrative that only Republican’s want to see him recalled.

“Let's call it what it is: it's a partisan, Republican recall backed by anti-mask and anti-vax extremists, and pro-Trump forces who want to overturn the last election and have opposed much of what we have done to fight the pandemic," Newsom said earlier this year.

Now, that narrative may be flipped upside down because a Democrat has just entered the race.

Kevin Paffrath, an investor and real estate broker from Ventura, California who has gained popularity on YouTube for his Meet Kevin channel, joined the growing list of challengers vying to replace Newsom, but there is one major difference with Paffrath - he is a Democrat.

“Kevin is not a ‘no name’ candidate,” Carl DeMaio stated. “He’s got a great nationwide following of over 1.6 million people and his videos have over 353 million views on social media,” DeMaio continued.

Paffrath has a 20-Part Plan for the state that he has laid out on his website.

“He has some bold and transformational ideas that we don’t necessarily all agree with, but at least he’s being specific,” said DeMaio. “He’s not using the standard coddle the criminal, coddle the homeless, raise the taxes approach, but his green energy plans are something he needs to rethink,” DeMaio concluded.
