Amid a continuing spate of rumor-mongering about school violence, a La Jolla High School student was arrested today for allegedly issuing a threat of campus violence, authorities reported.
The 15 year-old boy was taken into custody off-campus this morning, said Maureen Magee, spokeswoman for San Diego Unified School District. The suspect's identity and details on the purported threat were not released.
At least six other juvenile arrests have taken place in the San Diego area -- three this week -- amid a flurry of threats reported nationwide in the aftermath of last month's mass-casualty shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.None of the local threats so far were believed to be credible, officials said.
