A shooting in a neighborhood near Manzanita Canyon left a man wounded today.
The gunfire at Fairmount Avenue and Thorn Street in the Swan Canyon area of City Heights was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.
Medics took the victim, whose name was not released, to a hospital for treatment of wounds of unknown severity, SDPD public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.
The shooter fled with two other men in an unknown direction. The three were described as Asian men, one in a white shirt with the letters ``SD'' on it in red printing, the others in black shirts, Hernandez said.
Police shut down traffic lanes near where the assault occurred and searched the neighborhood by ground and aboard a patrol helicopter.
Officers found a discarded gun possibly connected to the case in an alley near the site of the shooting, but the assailant and his companions remained at large as of 1 p.m., according to police.
