Sheriff Deputies Shoot and Kill Man in Alpine

San Diego County Sheriff's deputies shot and killed a knife-wielding man during a confrontation at an East County apartment complex. The shooting was reported just before 3p.m. Monday at 2660 Alpine Boulevard, San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Michael Blevins said.

"One of the callers indicated there was a subject yelling that he wanted to kill someone," Blevins said. A man in his 30's left an apartment with a knife in his hand and moved toward the deputies, he said.

"As a result and fearing for their safety, a deputy involved shooting occurred. The deputies rendered first aid and called paramedics who pronounced him dead at the scene at 3:19 p.m., Blevins said. "More than one deputy was involved in the shooting," he said.

The deputies were not injured. The deputy involved shooting was under investigation by sheriff's homicide detectives, Blevins said.
