A Carlsbad woman died shortly after calling 911 to report she had been attacked inside her home. It happened just after midnight Monday on Outrigger Lane, where police initially responded to a possible home invasion and found the woman with several stab wounds.
Despite life-saving efforts, she died from injuries at the hospital. A neighbor told police that the woman had lived in the home for several years with her boyfriend. Officers at the scene found bloody footprints leading to the backyard of the home.
Police are still investigating and looking for anyone with information. There is no one in custody and no description of a suspect has been released.
