Are Women REALLY happier when Single, With No Kids?

I always look askance at studies like this, but there is probably some truth here.

Of course, there is probably truth in this as well...happiness is what you make it.

I'll be more specific.

I was happily single, before I married.

I was happily married, for the start to the middle of my marriage. Mostly happy, through all of it, in fact.

I am now happily single, again.

The key word here is "happy."

I am happy most of the time, and that is a conscious choice. I choose to be content with whatever hand I happen to be playing.

I like being alone, and I enjoy the pleasure of male company. I've never thought the two were mutually exclusive.

I think the study, perhaps, overlooks the stress of kids, and yes, marriage. But there is also stress with being a singleton, in a world filled with pairs. And yes, there is loneliness, as well.

But I am still happy with my lot, and enjoying that every day is a new adventure. Some nights are spent alone with a book and a glass of wine.

Some evenings, I enjoy the company of a gentleman over a nice dinner.

Some nights I wish there was another warn body near mine.

Some dates are absolute disasters...and I'm good with all of it.

I am a middle-aged divorced woman in San Diego. Believe me, life could be a heck of a lot worse. And I choose to be happy with whatever comes next. What about you?
