The first official day of summer. When you live in San Diego it’s often hard to tell when spring ends and summer begins.
But it could be easier this year because of what the weather’s been like during the first six months of 2019.
From all the rain this past winter, that basically ended the drought, to the cloudy and cooler temperatures we’ve had during these last two months of May gray and June gloom, some typical summer weather will probably be welcome by most of us in San Diego.
Today may not be summer-like but if the long term forecast from the National Weather Service is right, things are going to be changing in the not too distant future.
The forecast for July through September is out and they’re calling for warmer than usual temperatures this year, and the last few years were warmer ones too.
The outlook says we’re likely to have some heat waves in California over the next three months and at the same time, a greater chance for even a few thunderstorms.
So if you’re tired of the clouds and the cool, get ready for sunshine and heat. And having met with some Cal Fire folks this week, it’s clear they’re ready and prepared.And this first day of summer is a timely reminder for all of us to make sure we’re prepared.
